He opened his locker and his old art book fell down.He smiled.
He opened it and found stains on the page with a dry petal.Tears welled up his eyes.He remembered.
He was a little boy looking at the world in awe with those beautiful innocent eyes.
He was a good kid having fun enjoying life to the fullest.
Holding his Grandpa's hands he planted the Mango tree. They gave it life.
He fell for it.Loved it.The glint in his eyes was not overlooked by his everyone around.
He went back home, went to bed and dreamt of luscious mangoes that night.
The next day he sat beside his best friend and told him about his dream.
Oh what fun it was!!
How exciting!!
A few days later,he woke up and saw raw mangoes hanging from the trees.
He was full of excitement. He could not hide it.
He was just so so proud. He ran to his Grandpa and boasted of his achievement.
Oh how he loved the tree.
One fine day Daddy told him they had to shift to a remote area coz he had been transferred.
He was shattered. He went and sat in the shade of his favorite tree.He cried till he was so tired that he fell asleep.
Grandpa who was staying behind promised he would take care of the tree and send him the mangoes.
He gave one last fleeting glance and left their home one fine day.
He was the quiet kind.It took him time to move on with the new life, new friends.
There was no shade of the tree.He missed the cool shade. He missed his tree house he had built.
This new house just had a little garden with little seasonal flowers blooming. No trees. No shade. He hated it.
He was reading his Grandpa's letter in the garden when suddenly a small little flower caught his eyes.
He couldn't stop himself. He went running to the flower and started fondling with it.
He remembered hearing talking to flowers make them grow faster.
He was used to this life now.He grew up.For everyone he was a grown mature man but for the little flower bush he always was a dreamer who shared his wishes with her.
His dad was retired. They were to go back to their house.Everyone was elated and so was he.
He ran to the garden to tell the flower bush.He couldn't hide his excitement.
Their old house.Old Friends.Tree House he didn't know if he would even fit in now!
He laughed heartily..Wow he thought..Finally!!
The house was bustling with activity.Everything going haywire. They were to move out that day.
He wished all his neighbors goodbye and as habit binds one, went to the garden and suddenly his heart stopped.
He saw a little flower dying in the bush.He could not take away the flower with him.He realized he had to leave it behind.
He just could not handle it.He brushed his hands against the petals and looked away with a promise to keep her in his heart forever.
He plucked a bud and kept it in his art book. That's what the stain was..a listener to his dreams.A silent companion.A tear trickled down his cheeks.
